Artist Statement
In creating art, I am always working from a mood and building
on that. My work is primarily figurative. Working with
the figure I am focused on the organic beauty of that
which is dark and light in humanity. I also work to create
a beautiful design by creating dark and light in line,
shape, color, texture, and content of my work. It is my
belief that what is dark in nature and humanity is made
beautiful by its opposite, light. I am working with this
idea metaphorically and literally. When I work I am always
working in the moment in a free flowing space of creativity.
Once the work is done, I study it and ask myself what
it is trying to tell me about myself and the world around
me.
