Guide Needed for National-Class Runner
Luanne Burke to Compete in World Championships

National-Class
runner, Luanne Burke is seeking a track guide for the
2011 World Master’s Championships to be held in
Sacramento, California, this summer. Burke is a visually
impaired middle distance runner who finished 6th in the
2009 National Master’s Outdoor 800-meter run at
Oshkosh, Wisconsin and took home a silver medal in the
Women’s 4 x 800-meter relay.
“I
am planning to run the 800, mile and 400 (meters) at Worlds,”
said Burke. “I’m coming into this Championship
with more track experience this year and I feel I can
run under 2:40 for the 800-meters and under 6:15 for the
mile.”
The
IAFF Master’s World Championships are held once
every two years and rarely come to the United States.
The dates for this year’s meet in Sacramento are
July 6-17th.
The
guide may be either male or female and must be able to
run under 2:30 for 800-meters and under 6:00 minutes for
the mile and will be required to stay on Burke’s
shoulder during the races.
